What do I need to do to be compliant?

Essentially, to remain compliant, you need to follow these basic steps.

Before Operation:

  • Receive proper training in the safe use and operation of the machine.

    • Potential Hazards:

      • Exposed moving parts and electrical hazards.

      • Risks include entanglement, impact and cutting injuries, exposure to noise, dust, projectiles, slips, trips, falls, and sharp objects.

    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required:

      • Gloves

      • Eye Protection

      • Appropriate Footwear

      • Hearing Protection

      • Protective Clothing

      • Face Masks (if applicable)

      • Welding Mask (if applicable)

Safe Work Procedure Checklist: 

  1. PRE-Operation:

    • Ensure guarding is in place.

    • Ensure required PPE (eye, hearing, clothing protection, footwear, face masks, welding mask) is worn.

    • Identify ON/OFF switch and emergency stop button.

  2. Operation:

    • Check that the saw runs 'true' and does not wobble.

    • Securely clamp the workpiece before use.

    • Keep hands clear of the workpiece and blade.

    • Never leave the machine running unattended.

  3. POST-Operation:

    • Switch off saw before removing waste material from the table.

    • Report any faulty equipment immediately.

    • Reset guards to a fully closed position.

    • Bring the machine to a complete standstill before adjustments.

    • Leave the machine clean and tidy.

  • Push down on the cutting head while in operation.
